Ten Years of B Corp. Three Years of Us. And We’re Only Just Getting Started.

This year marks a significant milestone for the B Corp movement: 10 years in the UK. A decade of businesses choosing to challenge the idea that profit is the only measure of success. A decade of proving that you can do good, and do well.

As a creative agency proudly B Corp certified since 2023, we’ve taken the opportunity to pause, reflect and look back at what this commitment has genuinely meant for Workhouse, not as a badge, but as a way of operating.

For us, B Corp isn’t a campaign, a policy or a line on the website. It’s a framework that holds us to account. A global community of like-minded businesses committed to balancing people, planet and profit, and making decisions with long-term impact in mind.

So, in the spirit of reflection, here are 10 milestones from our B Corp journey so far, moments that continue to shape how we think, work and show up.

1. Accountability, not aspiration

Three completed B Impact Assessment Reports, each one pushing us to be more transparent, more rigorous and more ambitious than the last.

2. Supporting what’s local

From switching to a local milkman to cutting plastic waste, saving 895 four-pint plastic containers (and counting) - small changes that add up when you commit to them.

3. Waste, rethought

By shrinking our general waste bin and expanding recycling, 65% of our waste is now recycled. A simple shift with a lasting effect.

4. People first, always

Clear roles. Ambitious OKRs. Well-earned promotions. Growth that’s intentional and rooted in a purpose-driven culture, not hierarchy for hierarchy’s sake.

5. Bugs, bees and biodiversity

An on-site beehive producing local honey, plus a bug hotel to support pollinators. Because caring about the planet doesn’t have to be abstract.

6. Skills that open doors

Simon and Rianna delivered Photoshop and Illustrator training at a local Deaf School, helping students build creative skills they can take into future opportunities.

7. Learning starts young

Our Schools Biodiversity Project transformed a school garden with pollinator-friendly planting, complete with a wildlife camera so children could watch chicks hatch in real time.

8. The Workhouse Academy

A structured programme of learning, led by Simon Preece and Clare Roberts, designed to invest in our people; their thinking, confidence and craft.

9. Paying it forward

Mentoring other businesses on their B Corp journey, because this movement only works if we lift each other up.

10. Carbon neutral and counting

We’ve been carbon neutral for three years, balancing the books of our environmental impact while continuing to look for ways to do better.

Why B Corp Still Matters

Being part of the B Corp community means you’re never done. There’s no finish line, just progress, learning and accountability. It’s a reminder that business has influence, and with that influence comes responsibility.

We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside more than 2,500 B Corps in the UK, all proving that there’s another way to build businesses that last.
